I’ve been using Ecamm for a few weeks now and it just keeps getting better and better. Since then I have grown to appreciate many of the features Ecamm offers. For this post, I want to narrow down to just 3 features that I like the most.
For a full list of features check out Ecamm.com.
Top 3 Features of Ecamm
1. Ease of Use
Ecamm has been extremely easy to use. The UI is user-friendly, navigation is a breeze, and settings are not confusing or difficult to locate. Setting up a recording or broadcast is pretty self-explanatory.
2. NDI
Network Device Interface (NDI) is a royalty-free software standard developed by NewTek to enable video-compatible products to communicate, deliver, and receive broadcast-quality video in a high-quality, low-latency manner that is frame-accurate and suitable for switching in a live production environment. – Wikipedia.
In short, NDI allows me to connect devices like an iPhone or Mevo Start to the broadcast wirelessly. Some presentation apps like Pro Presentor also use NDI, which would allow users to have song lyrics or overlays during a broadcast.
I used my Mevo Start at a wedding and worked like a charm. Very nice to not have to have a wire connected between devices and allows some flexibility to get a job done.
3. No capture cards required
In a recent update, Ecamm added support to allow cameras to connect to a computer without the need for a device like the Elgato Cam Link. The Cam Link is a GREAT little device that I still use, but the ability to simply connect my Sony A7III to my MacBook Pro without an adapter is clutch.
Ecamm has been a great investment for my business. There are tons of features and the list keeps getting bigger. Rumor has it that there are two new features coming soon that will be a game-changer (again).
First, native call-in feature. At this time you can use Skype, Zoom, and Google Meet to record video chats. Soon we won’t need a third party to get that task done.
Secondly, the ability to stream to multiple platforms without Restream. I would LOVE to use Restream, but at this time I can only afford so many subscriptions.
These are my top three features, what are yours?
