MagBak Elite iPhone Air Review: Why I Keep Using It
Putting a case on the iPhone Air raises a fair question: why buy a thin phone and then add more to it?
That’s the trade-off behind my MagBak Elite iPhone Air review. The Elite has been my go-to case for this phone, and pairing it with the MagBak Smart Wallet adds another layer of everyday utility. But it also changes how much you’re carrying.
The question is whether those extra functions are worth the space they take up.

Why the MagBak Elite has been my go-to iPhone Air case
I test a lot of phone cases. What interests me most is which ones I keep coming back to after the initial coverage.
For my iPhone Air, MagBak has been one of those choices.
The setup shown here pairs my black iPhone with a black Elite Case and a contrasting gray finger loop. It keeps the look understated, with the loop adding a practical grip option.
A case is something you handle every time you pick up your phone. Its appeal has to extend beyond looking good in a product photo. That’s why the video gives you a closer look at the case on the phone, including its sides and camera area, so you can judge the setup for yourself.

What the MagBak Smart Wallet adds
The Smart Wallet attaches magnetically to the back, bringing your cards and phone together. You can remove it when you want to carry the phone on its own.
It also offers a finger loop and doubles as a stand. That gives the accessory a few different jobs:
- Card storage: Keep your cards with your phone.
- A grip option: Use the wallet’s finger loop while holding the phone.
- A stand: Prop the phone up to watch a video.
- A removable setup: Take the wallet off when you don’t need it.
If you like having your essentials together, that combination makes sense. If you prefer a separate wallet, the case can remain its own part of your setup.
The trade-off: more utility means more bulk
Adding a case, wallet, and cards changes the profile of the iPhone Air. That matters on a phone whose thin design is a big part of its appeal.
The useful comparison is the complete setup you’ll actually carry. An empty case tells only part of the story; adding a loaded wallet changes the equation.
If your priority is preserving the thinnest possible feel, think carefully about how often you would use the wallet and its extra functions. If you want your phone and cards together, the added thickness may be a reasonable compromise.
There isn’t one right answer for everyone. It comes down to what you want in your pocket.
My take: start with the case, decide on the wallet separately
The MagBak Elite has earned its place as a go-to case for my iPhone Air. The Smart Wallet is an optional addition, and I’d judge it by whether its card storage, grip, and stand would be useful to you.
You don’t have to treat the case and wallet as an all-or-nothing setup.
