We found out today that Google has acquired another app to enhance Google Plus. Odysee is an app that allows you to back up photos from your phone to your computer. According to Odysee, it’s photo sharing and saving service will close down on February 23rd, when the Odysee team will become a part of the Google + team.
Last September, Google acquired Polar, the opinion poll service and very shortly translated that into the quick and easy polls that those of us on Google + use liberally to get reader opinions on just about everything.
For geeks like me, this is heartening news, since we keep hearing rumors and stories of Google losing interest in keeping their ever-growing, social network going. Despite the fact that Google has declared emphatically that no such decision is even being considered.
So, as long as these acquisitions keep happening, I for one will feel very much relieved. I use Google + multiple times each day, as many of you probably do also. Let’s take heart from these moves by Google and be glad that out favorite social platform is being actively enhanced. Good job, Google. And, thanks for sharing. Pun intended.
