*Only two cons? This is why it is the best affordable standing desk and the cons I have listed are not dealbreakers whatsoever.
The desk I choose is the SmartDesk 2 Premium in Walnut with a black frame. It is the large 70.50″ x 30″ XL Classic size. It’s perfect for my needs. So let’s set the stage a little. I am a tall guy at 6’3″ and I need a good amount of comfortable space. My knees often hit the top of regular desks, which does not make a workspace ideal for me. I can adjust the height of the desk exactly to my comfort and functionality.
Apart from being tall, the advantages of having a large spread have helped my workflow tremendously. My desk doesn’t always look as “minimal” as what these pictures depict, but regardless of what is or isn’t on my desk, the desk space allows for a lot of work to get done. There is space for my Xbox One, extra monitor, laptop, notebook, and other work materials.
Under the desk, there is room for a large chair, sprawl my legs out, and I can even put a footrest to elevate my feet if needed.
Two people could actually work from this one desk and not rub shoulders. This fact is beneficial for teamwork, live streaming, conference calls, gameplay, etc. with more than one person.
As mentioned above, I am a tall guy. This desk climbs to a nice height to be able to work while standing. I do recommend getting a monitor that can be at eye level to help reduce looking down as much as possible to avoid neck strain.
The control box allows 4 custom heights. Currently, I have 3 heights to set. One is for one chair height and the other for another chair. My bigger chair’s arms fit under the desk at the lowest setting, but my other chair’s arms are a little taller. I have the setting 4 adjusted to lift at max height for standing. All I have to do is mash one of the buttons and the desk smoothly and quietly adjusts to the height needed.
Another idea for the custom buttons is if the desk is shared, the desk can be programmed for the person using the desk.
To set the custom buttons, simply go to the height desired, hold the ‘M’ down until the lights blink, and press the button you want the height set to.

Personally, I really like the dark wood with black frame. It’s got a classic minimal vibe that fits my style. I consider myself a minimalist and I really appreciate clean, simple designs. The Autonomous Desk is perfect for any minimalist wanting something for their home or office.
The packaging includes cable management ties and a cradle for the cables to rest in under the desk. Overall, you can accomplish a cordless look, almost. For the most part, my desk you can’t see many cables hanging around unless you’re looking for them.
My only gripe with the ties, and it’s not Autonomous’ fault, but I live in the southeast United States where it is very humid all the time. The adhesive does not always hold up and some of the cables end up hanging loose at times.
Autonomous desks are available in wood or natural bamboo, a variety of color options to match your office or home design. The frames are solid steel with rounded edges, adjustable length, and a dual-motor system capable of supporting up to 300 lbs.
