Sports Action Camera For Under $100 – DBPOWER Waterproof Action Camera 12MP 1080P HD

DBPOWER offers a bargain with an affordable action camera that packs quite a bit of features for being at a very nice price. This camera is perfect for many occasions including anything you want to capture near water, dusty, and of course normal conditions. I was pleasantly surprised of the quality of the action camera as well. Logically thinking that the new GoPro cameras cost around $300+ depending on where you purchase, I was expecting this DBPOWER action camera feel cheap and perform at a low level. My assumptions were wrong.

  • 58 grams only, equal to an egg, even can’t feel it when using it on a helmet or monopod.
  • Supports TF card up to 32GB: 8 hours videos in 720p or 5 hours in 1080p.
  • HDMI, USB, AV video output, available for connecting computers, TVs and projectors.

This was my first action camera. While there have been plenty of opportunitiesĀ to use an action camera, I have not come to the point to justify spending close to $400+ for a GoPro. Yes it would be fun, but I would rather put the money elsewhere. I’ve always been interested in finding out if these lower cost action cameras were just as good as a GoPro or not. Well, I have not used a GoPro personally, I have seen the results from them though, and I can say this DBPOWER action camera does a mighty fine job!

Recently I took a trip to Disney World and brought the camera with me. I figured the camera could come in handy for a few rides such as Splash Mountain and Thunder Mountain railroad. Day one I will admit I goofed and did not capture the footage at all because I thought I was recording. But day two I learned from my mistake and was able at least get to the two rides mentioned before. Day one I was wanting to capture the attraction It’s a Small World and the Swiss Family Robinson Tree House Tour.

The mistake happened from thinking the camera was rolling because there is a countdown timer on the display, which simply fooled me. Realizing there was no footage on the sd card I investigated and corrected the problem by selecting the video mode and then pressing the OK button to record. Learn from my mistake and don’t miss out on any footage intending to be captured. Once I figured that part out the camera is super simple to operate.

As far as the quality of the images go, I think they look great. Watch the video here in this post for some footage on a couple of the rides. It’s really easy to snap picture too.

One of the best aspects about this camera apart from the quality of the camera itself are the accessories it comes with. The camera comes with an assortment of attachments and best of an extra battery. The extra battery is wonderful have just in case you need to swap out the dead one for a charged one. Not to mention the camera comes with a waterproof case for all your water adventures. Pretty much a great starter kit for anyone wanting to get an action camera.

If you don’t want to spend a ton of money on a GoPro and accessories, this package is a great deal. I believe you will not be disappointed if you make this purchase. Currently the price tag is about $75 on Amazon.
