How to disable Twitter’s Best Tweets First
Recently Twitter decided to make a change of how your Twitter Timeline is curated. At this point Twitter will decide for you of what Tweets are best and display them first for you to see as you pull up your Timeline. This might sound a little familiar to you because it is a similar practice of what Facebook does with it’s News Feed. Instagram has voiced they are looking to go with the automated format as well.
But there is hope!
Android
- Go to settings in the Twitter app
- Timeline
- Uncheck the “Show me the best Tweets first” option
iOS
- Go to settings in the Twitter app
- Select account @______
- Timeline/ Timeline Personalization
- Untick the “Show me the best Tweets first”
Web Browser
- Go to settings by clicking on your profile photo
- Under the Content section find the Timeline option
- Untick theĀ “Show me the best Tweets first”
That’s all there is to it. The steps are basically the same for each Android, iOS, and web browser. Thankfully Twitter has given us this option and I hope it stays this way. From the user’s perspective this doesn’t seem to be in the favor of the user, but more so with brands and popular Twitter accounts. Personally, I like to have a chronological Timeline. I know where I left off from last time I viewed my feed.
I might try to leave the option turned on for showing the “best” tweets first and see how it goes. Who knows? I might just like it. I’m not against trying something new. What about you? Are you going to leave the Timeline as is or change it back to the old way to view your Timeline? Let me know in the comments what you think about this change!
