Peak Design, a global leader in camera carry solutions and accessories, has unveiled a new line of minimalist, fixed-length camera straps called Form Rope straps and Form Leather straps, alongside the innovative Field Plate. These new products bring Peak Design’s renowned functionality into a sleeker, more refined package.
Introducing the Form Straps: Clean Design, Superior Connection
The new Form Straps represent Peak Design’s “distillation of that heritage into something streamlined, premium, and classic”. They integrate the popular Anchor Link quick-connection systemย into an ultra-low-profile design.
The result is a minimal aesthetic with a faster, flatter connection that can hold up to 200 lbs. and blends seamlessly into nearly any camera setup. The hardware is integrated directly into the strap ends with no visible stitching, O-rings, or bulky connectors.
For enthusiasts like me, especially those who prefer a clean, unobtrusive look for everyday carry and light travel, these straps are a game-changer. I can already see the Form Leather Strap in chestnut blending perfectly with my Leica Q2, offering a premium feelย that matches the camera’s aesthetic, while the black Form Rope Strap would be ideal for a lighter, more rugged travel setup.
Form Rope Straps
- Made from a custom braided nylon and polyester rope that balances strength, padding, and stretch.
- Offered in black, navy, and sage.
Pricing: $49.95 for Long, Short, and Standard configurations, and $44.95 for the Neck strap.
Form Leather Straps
- Crafted from premium ECCO full-grain leather with machined aluminum hardware.
- Available in black, chestnut, and bone.
Pricing: $79.95 for Long, Short, and Standard, and $69.95 for the Neck Strap.
Both rope and leather versions are offered in fixed-length neck and cross-body configurations, available in small, medium, and large sizes.
Complementing the Form straps are the new Cuff Leather ($59.95) and Cuff Rope ($39.95) wrist straps, featuring a one-size, quick-cinching design in matching materials and colorways.
The Field Plate: Tool-Less Mounting Redefined
Peak Design also took a “fresh look at the humble tripod plate” with the new Field Plate. This next-generation camera plate is engineered for fast and secure attachment to $1/4″$-20 threaded camera bodies.
What makes it truly innovative is the pop-up thumb drive screw. Instead of needing coins or keys, photographers can apply real torque with just their hands. The mechanism deploys with a simple press, allowing you to twist to tighten or loosen, and then press again to stow.
The Field Plate is exactly what I need to quickly transition my Leica Q2 from being attached to a Form Strap for everyday shooting to mounting it on a tripod for more deliberate compositions while traveling. The intuitive, tool-free designย means I don’t have to carry extra tools or fumble with a tight plate, making the whole workflow simpler and faster.
The Field Plate is fully compatible with Peak Design tripods, Capture clips, and straps, as well as most third-party Arca-type heads.
Pricing: $39.95.
With this new lineup, it’s clear Peak Design continues its decade-long tradition of building “the best things” for photographers worldwide. I look forward to integrating the Form Straps and Field Plate into my setup for a more streamlined and elegant shooting experience!
