elago Duro [Dual Layer Protective] Case for Samsung Galaxy S5

Elago has done a great job of creating quality, professional accessories for mobile devices and they now introduce a new case for the Galaxy S5 called the Duro. The Duro is a two layered case made of an inner tpu material and a hard outer shell made of polycarbonate. There are a few choices of colors to choose from and each one of em look nice. For this review I have the Electric Blue. The inner tpu color doesn’t change from black. You can snag this case for only about $12 on Amazon which is a great deal considering this case is rather spiffy, if you ask me.

I’ve got a white Galaxy S5 to showcase with the Duro and I think this combo looks spectacular! The colors really do pop with this combo but I am sure a black S5 will look nice and sleek as well. I really like this look of this case. The Electric Blue is a nice touch and keeps the theme of the metallic trend that is going on right now with the silvers, golds and slate styles (to which Elago has those colors to choose from too).

But looks aren’t everything, right? In this case (pun intended), the Duro looks good but it is a protective case. If I am not mistaken this is the first two layered case Elago has made. In the past their cases consisted of primarily snap on and wallet/flip cover style cases. Granted their Matrix/Outfit series has two materials, but the Duro is literally two layers. Both tpu and polycarbonate are both durable materials will even protect from some nasty big drops. All the edges are covered along with great corner protection.

The Duro is designed well too. The two layers mesh together, there are no gaps or spaces where the materials meet and there are no rough edges. The power and volume buttons are covered up by the tpu layer and I am also skeptical with how well the buttons will work when a case covers them up. Some cases I have used makes it a deal breaker for me to use the case if the button covers make it difficult to press the buttons. Elago pulled through and the button covers are not hard to press. There is a slight tone of resistance, but nothing to get on my nerves about.

Overall, this a great case for a great price and I don’t think you can go wrong with this case. It is thin, pocketable, protective and stylish. I like the color options. This is another quality product from one of my favorite device accessory companies. Go check it out and let me know if you pick one up!
