Android 5.0 Lollipop software update hits the Verizon Galaxy S5

This was one of the biggest surprises today when I got the notification for the my Verizon Galaxy S5 receiving Android 5.0 Lollipop! As soon as I heard the news I checked my phone if the update was a real thing and sure enough it was. Being the YouTuber that I am, quickly grabbed my camera and began shooting the installation process. The installation took a pretty good while because it is actually a two part update, which is something I can’t remember happening with any other update in the past. In this post you will see some screenshots and video examples of what Android 5.0 looks like on the Verizon Galaxy S5.

At first I was a little disappointed because the first part of the update didn’t show any visible changes and I was hoping to see a hint of Lollipop right away. Any Lollipop features won’t show up until the second part of the update finishes up. I was really curious to see what the new update was like because the rumor mill has been saying the Galaxy S6 will look like stock Android and the Samsung apps would be downloadable. Therefore, I was wondering if this new update would be like that on the Galaxy S5. In short, the update is a hybrid between Lollipop and TouchWiz. Check out the screenshots and change log for what is different. The video shows the installation process and some of the new Lollipop features you can expect. Be on the lookout for a full walkthrough coming out soon.
